Average rate
Up to April 2026, there were 16.49 job losses per 100 workers, which represents a reduction of -11.06% compared to the same period in 2025.
The decrease in the average incidence of sick leave during the first four months of 2026 is explained by the downward trend observed in both contingencies. The incidence of common contingencies was 15.34 absences per 100 workers, with a reduction of -11.02% compared to the year 2025 and occupational contingencies registered 1.15 absences per 100 workers, which represents a decrease of -11.54% compared to the same period of the previous year.
TD Index
Until April 2026, the total IT index stood at 6.16 days of sick leave for every 100 days of contributions, a figure that represents an increase of 4.58% compared to the same period in 2025.
This increase is due to the behavior of common contingencies, whose IT index stood at 5.72 with an increase of 5.93% compared to the year 2025.
Conversely, the IT index due to occupational contingencies was 0.44; which represents a reduction of -10.20% compared to 2025.
In conclusion, in this first four months of the year, these two indicators (average incidence and IT index) show us that although sick leave due to common contingencies has decreased, the days of leave due to this contingency have increased compared to the same period of the previous year. In other words, fewer absences but longer duration.
Diagnostic groups
The diagnostic group with the highest number of initiated sick leaves was that of pathologies related to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), which represented 21.16% of total sick leaves.
Next are the pathologies related to the respiratory system, which accounted for 14.62% of the total number of absences.
Duration of absences
Regarding the total days of sick leave generated, musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) were the group with the greatest impact, accumulating 34.14% of the total. Mental and behavioural disorders (MBDs) followed, with 17.15%.
