Respect for nature is one of the principles of FREMAP's Business Culture, which materializes by complying with the regulations and the continuous improvement of its environmental management system.

Consistent with this, FREMAP's Senior Management has developed and established the company's Environment Policy, which is defined as a set of general guidelines and goals that guides the company's actions in relation to environmental protection.

  • FREMAP commits itself to complying with the current and forecasted future regulations and to establish a formal environmental management system which enables them to achieve a continuous improvement of their environmental action.
  • FREMAP promises to prevent pollution, to gradually reduce it, and as far as possible, the residues, to rationally use the natural energy resources, as well as to use environmentally friendly products.
  • FREMAP commits itself to promoting in all employees a greater degree of sensitivity, responsibility and to raising their consciousness on the need to protect and preserve the environment.
  • FREMAP commits itself to maintaining an environmental communication channel, both internal and external, with transparent criteria, to maintain a cooperative relationship with the authorities and an open dialogue with interested parties and the public, at whose disposal this policy is placed.

As part of this commitment, FREMAP establishes its Environmental Policy, which is documented in the Environmental Policy Manual and contains core principles guiding sustainable environmental performance, combining efficient service with environmental preservation, preventing pollution, gradually reducing the generation of waste, rationally using natural and energy resources, and using environmentally-friendly products.

In order to fulfill and deploy these commitments, an Environmental Management System has been developed and implemented in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 14001 Standard and recognized by an external organization accredited for certification against said standard by ENAC (National Accreditation Entity).

The certification encompasses all of FREMAP's activities and centres (administrative, outpatient and inpatient) throughout Spain.

The UNE-EN ISO 14001 standard specifies the requirements that an environmental management system must meet, enabling organizations to develop environmental policies, define their processes and objectives for compliance, and ensure legal obligations and the expectations of interested parties, achieving continuous improvement. Certification of conformity to this standard demonstrates that the system meets the international model of the ISO standard.

The recognition in this standard is a support for FREMAP in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals and aligning itself with the GRI and the Global Compact in environmental content.

FREMAP's Environmental Management System is described in a series of documents, including an Environmental Management Manual, ten Specific Environmental Procedures, thirty Technical Instructions and ten Procedures shared with the Quality Management System, which allows FREMAP to have an Integrated Quality and Environmental Management System.

All the FREMAP's environmental aspects have been identified and evaluated based on a set of objective criteria that determine their greater or lesser relevance.

FREMAP's Environmental Management Programme specifies the environmental goals shared across the entire organisation to ensure fulfilment of the commitments made in the principles of the Environment Policy, with each centre regularly monitoring these principles.
